Artist Statment

I believe art is a form of communication above and beyond the norm with various levels of creativity. Everything you experience influences and affects what and how you communicate art. Artist throughout history have communicated what is in effect their life and times. My hope is to do the same as well as project new ideas into the future changing the way people look at things tomorrow.My influences have been modern art in general, and have centered on abstraction and abstract symbolism. I have always looked to myself, nature, and the unnatural organization for inspiration. I feel that doing so gives a greater possibility of being fresh and new. Through my studies in art I have tried what I've always been told couldn't be done. I've attempted to break new ground both in subject matter and choice of mediums. For example Painting shaped Styrofoam paneling, a relatively new material, to express the texture of stone or old material found in nature. But still to communicate the stone in a way that one would never find in a natural setting. I hope to enlighten others with a sense of spirituality through nature in what I am communicating.
